Convocation of American Churches in Europe

From Open Encyclopedia

The Convocation of American Churches in Europe is a jurisdiction similar to a diocese of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America, which includes all of its churches in continental Europe. The Presiding Bishop has direct jurisdiction over the Convocation, delegated to a bishop suffragan, an office currently held by the Right Reverend Pierre Whalon, the first bishop of the Convocation to be elected by the Convocation Convention prior to appointment by the Presiding Bishop.

There are eight full-fledged parishes and numerous missions. These include St. Augustine's of Canterbury, Wiesbaden, Christ the King, Frankfurt and Church of the Ascension, Munich in Germany; Emmanuel, Geneva in Switzerland; All Saints', Waterloo in Belgium; St. Paul's Within the Walls, Rome and St. James', Florence in Italy; and the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Paris in France.
