Dexter Jettster was the owner of Dex's Diner and an superb explorer in his younger days. He was a good friend to Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. When Kenobi was looking for the person who tried to assassinate senator Padme Amidala, and killed Zam Wesell, he came looking for Dexter's help. Dexter told him to look on the planet Kamino. He said this because he knew the saberdart retrieved by Kenobi was a Kamino saberdart. On one of his travels Dexter happened to run into the Polis Massans. The Besalik was quite impressed with their ability to subdue planetary life with the use of Kamino saberdarts.

Despite his penchant for adventure, Dexter met an untimely fate. As the Clone Wars ravaged even Coruscant, business at Dex's diner dwindled to a fraction of what it had been during more peaceful times. Trying to keep his little establishment from going under, Dexter decided to try a delivery service. On the fateful day that Anakin Skywalker turned to the Dark side of the Force and massacred all of the Jedi in the Jedi Temple, Dexter was delivering a case of Bantha burgers to the younglings who were on break waiting for Master Yoda to return to teach them. He was unceremoneously shot in the back by a clone trooper who mistook him for a four-armed Jedi from Tellas IV. Though not shown on-screen, Obi-Wan Kenobi found the body of his friend when he and Yoda returned to the Temple. He vowed revenge on whoever committed such a heinous act.
